In this attack, when Kagome shoots an arrow at a youkai, the arrow starts shining and when it hits the youkai (or lands near it), the arrow purifies the youkai's youki (basically its demon energy). Once the youki is purified, the youkai loses its power.

Using her mystical powers, Kagome can do a number of things. For instance, in the first book, she burned off the centipede demon's arms. she can also sense the presence of the Shikon shards, and she can also purify them.
