History: Kikyou was a priestess who had the Shikon no Tama in her possesion so that it could be purified. She fell in love with Inuyasha but Naraku tricked both of them into hating each other, in order to corrupt the Shikon no Tama and then take it, and she sealed Inuyasha away. She then died because of wounds she had recieved, but a demon resurected Kikyou from bones and grave dirt and that is the Kikyou who wanders around the series for the greater part of it.
Appearance: Long black hair usually tied up in a ponytail with two parts coming down and then tied back into the ponytail, she wears her "front" hair in bangs. Her clothing consists of a white chihaya (her top) and a red hibakama (the red, skirt-like part of her outfit), the traditional clothing of a miko. She is often seen carrying a bow and arrows.
Personality: 1. The resurected Kikyou. Some people would describe her as evil. She is mainly animated by her need to take revenge on Inuyasha, who she thought betrayed her. She has tried to kill Kagome even. Still, she cares for those who are wounded and she once freed an old man's soul. She definatley has a lot of depth to her. 2. Before death. Before death Kikyou was really great. She was pure, kind and she was the one who Inuyasha fell in love with. She was probably a lot like Kagome, but more slitary and serious as she proteced the whole village from demons and kept the Shikon no Tama.
Romance: Kikyou is in love with Inuyasha, but after she thought he betrayed her she tried to kill him. She still does have feelings for him, I think the way she acts shows how thin the line between love and hate really is... Also the part of Naraku that is Onigumo's heart is in love with Kikyou, but Kikyou has no feelings for him, except for pure hatred.
Special Quirks: Kikyou actually died by Naraku's trap fifty years before the real story takes place, but then she was ressurected from bones, grave dirt and part ofKagome's soul. Kagome's soul did come back to her body though, and Kikyou was only left with her 'hate' (or is it love?) for Inuyasha which keeps her in the world of the living, and a small part of Kagome's soul which stayed with Kikyou. However, her body made out of dirt needs souls to be nourished so Kikyou steals the souls of dead girls.
My Opinion: I think that Kikyou before she died was great. She was the real Kikyou Inuyasha fell in love with, with her complete soul. I believe that the Kikyou we see in the majority of the anime and manga is not the real thing. For one, she doen't have her complete soul. She just has the souls of the dead and her hatred for Inuyasha. Kikyou is actually one of my favorite characters. In my opinion she's the most tragic in the show. She also adds depth to the romance of Inuaysha and Kagome. If she wasn't there, I think their love might have been weaker (and pretty boring after awhile). Still, I do think that she should go back to the world of the dead, she deserves to rest, after she kills Naraku that is. :p
