Inuyasha was originally a manga but since the series was so good it became an anime also! Inuyasha was first animated in August of 2000 and is currently still running. It is shown on Japanese TV on Monday nights at 7:30 pm. It is shown on Nihon (or Nippon) Television. The series is still ongoing, which means it hasn't ended yet. The anime basically follows the plot of the manga with just a few small differences that happen between a manga series and its anime. The biggest difference I've noticed is that the Peach Man story was animated a lot later than it was written in the manga. There are also a few filler eps, but unlike many filler episodes I've seen, the Inuyasha filler eps are very good. The art in the anime is different from that in the manga, but it is very nice and the colors are really beautiful. If you are thinking about getting the anime, I know you can rent it at Tokyo Kid (located in Harvard Sq., in Cambridge, in MA) or you can buy the DVDs from Ebay (if you live in the USA keep in mind that the Japanese DVDs won't work on an American DVD player), or you can search around the Internet and download the episodes digitally.
There are four different opening songs and five different ending songs for the series so far. Below is some information about them.
Opening Songs
- Change the World by V6
- I Am by Hitomi
- Owarinai Yume by Nanase Aikawa
- Grip! by Every Little Thing
Ending Songs
- My Will by Dream
- Fukai Mori by Do As Infinity
- Dearest by Ayumi Hamasaki
- Every Heart by BoA
- Shinjitsu no Uta by Do As Infinity
In the US, Inuyasha is aired on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim program, Monday-Thursday, at 1:00 am. It's not in Japanese, but dubbed into English. You can view the schedule here.
