Oof. Lots of things to say, not much time to write them down.
My eyes hurt. I think I'm getting too sleep-deprived.
I finally started playing Sanitarium yesterday. It's been more than a year since I got the game. To get it to run, I had to install it in Win98 mode and execute it in Win98 mode with an MS-DOS command window, Windows Explorer, and IE in the background. Story better be damn well worth it, I tell you! I just got into Chapter 3, and I'm still in the dark about what "really" happened. o_o; But I can tell you, Dan, that the action sequences are totally laughable. :P In fact, the animation in general is butt-awful.
On... Saturday night I stretched my right ear cartilage piercing up to 2.4 mm from 2 mm. I'm still a little sore, but I expect it to be that way for a week or so. I just hope I didn't get a blowout or anything. Not sure how much bigger I'd want to get - the next size up is 3 mm. I don't think I have a lot of room there for bigger-sized jewelry, so I might just stay here. Or I could downsize, too.
Saturday after the Outspoken luncheon I went to the giant Guitar Center megastore-of-flashy-neon-and-stuff. Tried out five different basses. This is the first time (aside from that one time in eighth grade) that I've played an electric instrument... whoo, it's way different than an acoustic! I don't know if I can manage the full-scale basses - the spacing between the frets feels huge to me. Problem is the small-scale basses don't really come below the $400 range. Even now I'm thinking that $400 is way too much. I'll go back some other time and take a look at the $200-250 range - I doubt I'll notice the difference in sound. I've always heard good things about the Ibanez GSR series, and they seem like they might be what I'm looking for... aside from the scale, that is.
Research... gah. The rate is killing me, but I guess since all the mistake I make are learning experiences, it's okay... I think. I just hope I get a thesis out of all this. The professor dropped the word "publish" in a conversation with my supervisor, and that would be really nice...
I've been listening to a lot of Panic Channel music lately. I've realized what makes their music so attractive to me. I'll write about my thoughts and feelings later.
Ben got his copy of Kaya's album today. It'll only be worth it if I get to hear him squeal some more about how wonderful he thinks it is. :P
This is my last semester at college. Yeesh. How the time flies. I'll be old soon! X.X
OMG UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH BETTER ACCEPT ME OR I'LL SPAM THEM WITH LETTERS AND TRANSCRIPTS AND MORE LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION (like I'm writing now) UNTIL THEY DO! (In other words, they're sending out decisions this week... wish me luck.)
Lately I'm itching to get two more piercings on my left ear - a third lobe and a second cartilage. I'll do it if I get into a medical school. Although I already know what my parents will say... >____________>;; I'm also thinking of getting another cartilage piercing on my right ear, to sort of balance things out. I'm hoping I still have the time to get my lip pierced again, but I'm thinking I may be out of time and luck. Pooh.
By accident I discovered something very interesting about our aloe plant. If I pour water right over the top of the plant, the leaves are designed to channel water into the roots! Not surprising, I guess, for a desert plant. Now, I need to try pouring water on different parts of the leaves to see if there's still that channeling effect.
I also discovered power chords on the guitar. I didn't realize how many songs were made with power chords instead of the bar chords I was thinking of! Whew! I may not be able to get a guitar lesson this semester because I registered late and got put on the waitlist ;_; but I guess I can save the $90 lesson fee and use it to buy instructional books. I honestly don't know where I'd fit a lesson time in, anyway. But still. ;_;
I'm not convinced I'm really going to like this last semester, but okay, whatever. I'm going to graduate soon, right?
Oh, and I guess I should try to solve this simultaneous differential equations or whatever thing that came up in lab today... you know, show initiative and all!
I originally started out with a new year's resolution post, but I realized that there wasn't any way to be sure I'd manage to hit all the things on the list, so now it's just a list of desires.
I tried stretching my piercing up to the next size a couple of days ago... suffice it to say that it was too much all at once, despite my best precautions. My ear was really unhappy, so right now I'm praying I don't get an infection. Maybe I should try Mederma massages to reduce scar tissue or something so I actually can stretch without destroying my ear. This is actually something I really want to do!
I also want a new hairstyle, but I'm afraid I won't have the skill or inclination to make it look good all the time!
Big news on the DS Lite front! Not only did I manage to connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi via technically stolen Wi-Fi access, but I visited another town in Animal Crossing: Wild World and brought back a dozen cherries! I went on a chopping spree and replaced twelve of my trees with cherry saplings, so I hope they grow. I also started playing March of the Minis - it's a brainteaser, and I'm not sure I can deal with all the different gadgets and switches. >__>;;
