First singles

Wee, double and triple meanings! :D Today my two Malice Mizer singles arrived - "Uruwashiki kamen no shoutaijou" and "Saikai no chi to bara".

online fax number

For the unfaithful out there XD "Uruwashiki..." is MM's first single ever, with Gackt as the vocalist. The back of the CD case-packet-thingy amuses me. There are five little pictures, one of each member. The only one I could pick out on first glance was Mana, and that's kinda to be expected. :D From left to right, I think it's: Mana, Yu~ki, Gackt, Kami, and Közi.

As for the music itself, it's much like the Voyage ~sans retour~ album. It's got the twinkly, synthesized, European sound. At the moment, I'm fond of the C/W track, "Apres Midi ~aru Paris no gogo de~". The font makes it difficult for my inexperienced eyes to read the lyrics, but if I can figure out the kanji, I'll do my best to make a crude translation.

"Saikai..." is the last track on Bara no seidou and the first single released from the album. It's also the first CD that MM put out after Gackt's departure and Kami's death. I think it's one of the better songs on the album - very dramatic, with a violinist, violist, and cellist listed in the credits. The packaging itself is very nifty. It's a little hardcover book, with two two-page concept images and three two-page images of the band members.

I'm currently working on a new layout for the domain itself, which has been horribly neglected. It's had two layouts in one year, and it's really out of date. I had to log in to the FTP just to figure out who all my hostees were. :/ Go me. As for the layout itself, it's going to be very simple. Not a whole lot goes on at the domain - pretty much all my activity happens on my blog.

Effin' vanilla

Went out with Kathleen, Brian, and Erin today. First stop was the Uncommon Market... in addition to the vanilla candle, I now have vanilla beans and powder, courtesy of Erin and Kathleen, respectively. I have no idea how to use them or what I'm going to do with them. Or how to explain it to my mum. -_-;;;;;;;;;;

The situation in the car was interesting... Kathleen and Brian are sickeningly cute.

I have an idea for another poem-thingy. I was hoping to get a little more inspiration when we visited a conservatory in Oakland tonight, but it was so Christmas-y and noisy and crowded that it kinda ruined that. Oh well. I'll keep working at it.

Anime Naito wa...

I don't think I like Great Teacher Onizuka. Granted, I've seen about ten minutes of it, but that's long enough for the title character to annoy me. Even Vash and Kenshin took a while before they got on my nerves.

Kathryn ate entirely too many jelly beans. She must've touched every single bean in the plastic container in her quest to find whatever flavor it was... black licorice, I think. Rob kept getting coffee flavor, which he apparently doesn't like, and Erin knows jelly beans well enough to identify them by color. She can distinguish between the cherry, strawberry jam, and cinnamon. That frightens me.

Speaking of color, David came to Anime Night, and his hair color has changed once again. It's now dark blue. Erin needs to work on her hair because she's now got competition! :D

Kathryn also decided to risk her life by giving me Christmas presents - a French vanilla candle and a box. I have no comment. But thanks for the support.

Brian (whenever I type his name, I spell it "Brain"... which is kinda funny) gave Kathleen a big stuffed bunny from Build-A-Bear that he turned into a Kenshin bunny, complete with cheek scar. It's cute - the act of giving, not the actual bunny. And whoo! déjà vu! Freaky. o_o;

I guess that's a good thing. For the last three or so nights, I've been dreaming, which is rare because I usually don't dream nights in a row. Usually don't get déjà vu, either.

Oh, and today was Rob's birthday lunch at Kiku's! Otanjoubi omedetou!

A Malice X-mas

Sparked by anima's lovely little picture (thank you so much! ^.^)... fueled by insanity, stupidity, and/or creativity... flavored with my own weird humor...

A Malice Christmas

Also see Further Reading for more cheery goodness.

I take sole responsibility for the above masterpieces/monstrosities.

Coming

Finishing up work on the new layout. I fiddled with the fonts, and I like it better now. Also changed most of the little link descriptions.

Wee, I will soon have new manga! ^_^ And hopefully, two Malice Mizer singles... if this person doesn't ship them, I won't be in the Christmas spirit. *makes assorted savage faces*

I'm getting back into the swing of things with cello. After not practicing for over a month and a half, I have to consciously remind myself to do it. I lost a lot of fine motor skill in that time, so now I'm working on getting it back. @_@;; I like making music, really I do. I still haven't given up my dream of recording something in a studio. ^_^

3:15~ a.m., December 15, 2002

For a few days since last Saturday, I've been listening to Plastic Tree's "Sangatsu itsuka" a lot. It's pained without being angsty. There's a poignantly clear quality to that song. I especially like the opening lines:

    Hajimemashite.
    Kurushikute boku wa tegami o kakimasu.
Which translates to something like:
    Nice to meet you.
