02/18/2003 Archived Entry: "KatsnowCon"
Alright~! I'm finally home from Katsu. Wow. That was an adventure =D
Maybe I should break things down in days.
Friday: Day One.
Started off with scrambling for rides. Steve decided to ditch us so that ment Sean was our ride. He didn't respond on his cell phone till around 10:30 am though. @ @; gah. So we drove and drove and drove. Got lost in DC. Managed to get there and check in. Registered and wandered around the con for a bit before we all got dressed up and went to a fancy resturant with both the local crew and our buddies from the VA crew. It was alot of fun. Not to mention the cheesecake was AMAZING!!! *swoon melt melt* I got to pull out all the dinner manners my aunt and grandmother taught me. It was alot of fun. I took a whole bunch of pictures there. Sadly though my camera broke the day after and I lost that film to exposure.
Saturday: Day Two.
The majority of con's usually happen on this day. I wandered around in my Tsuzuki costume. I'm so upset that I forgot my fuda. No one recognized me until I said who I was. *upset* I met two Watari's though. I saw another Tsuzuki wandering around but she was with a Muraki...and Muraki just overall creeps me out so I didn't approach them. But I got to see Duel Jewel do an accoustic concert, I met some cool people, and got to talk about J-rock. Also for once the rave that night wasn't all that bad. There were actually people there who could dance. The cosplay was killer this year. half of the groups didn't show though. Maybe that's why they were so good. only the hardcore groups (aka the prepared ones with set skits) showed up with the storm. Either way it was good fun.
Sunday: Day Three.
Snow, Snow, and more Snow. Also the end of official Katsucon. I was cosplaying Sakura this day. I kept joking that I had used the Snow card. Wandered around the dealers room making a few last minute purchases. Oh! my purchases for the weekend: Yami no Matsuei volumes 9-11, Gackt's Moon (it was cheap and one of the people I met REALLY recommended it), 2 Hikaru no Go posters, 1 Weiss Kreuz Gluhen poster, and lastly a little Hisoka fastener thing. One especially fun thing for Sunday, I went to the seminar on Visual Kei and Duel Jewel's lead singer and drummer were the board members for it. It was alot of fun though everyone spoke very softly. Hayato-san and Val-san were both very sweet and smiled alot. Hayato at the end was all "I'm so happy to have fan like you all. It makes me want to cry" and he was all teary eyed. I just wanted to hug him. The interesting thing about that was.....I did! I got to hug him! O_O!!! I was one out of like...4 people that he hugged on the way out. Everyone was all "Arigatou Gozaimasu!" It was fun. We also decided to stay the night because...well it was snowing pretty fiercely. Alot of people left but a whole lot of people stayed too. Thus was the start of KatsnowCon. The hotel gave us two rooms and they showed Chobits and Invader Zim. The voice of Gir was there and he showed us episodes Nickelodeon(sp) never showed. It was hilarious. A whole room of eccentric people+Invader Zim=alot of fun.
Monday: Day Four.
That day I got sick. It started off pretty small but most of my colds do. Before you knew it I practically collapsed at McDonalds and managed to push myself to get my butt back to the hotel and in bed. Spent most of the day in the hotel bed hacking. Nothing really unusual other than that.
Tuesday: Day Five.
Woke up hacking. Packed. Hacked up a lung. Took some cough medicine. Got in the car. Drive Drive Drive. The roads weren't all that bad. There were alot of spots that multiple lanes were missing because of snowbanks though. But we all made it home safe and now my throat is really sore and I'm writing this super long entry @_@; Woosh!
I think that's it. If I remember anything else I'll add it.
Glad I found your blog!
